A Few Things The Quarantine Has Taught Me

I Can Still Grow: Just because everything stops around you does not mean that you can’t continue to grow. Set goals! Work on yourself! Practice #SelfCare. I’ve made a lot of progress on my fitness, health and professional goals during this time. Target an area in your life that you want to see improvement or change and work on it.

Finding Balance is Key: Finding balance can be hard when you are continually sharing the same space with family members and loved ones. And when the lines between your personal and professional space become blurred; things can become chaotic quick and in a hurry. Adapting to new routines and setting boundaries is crucial for everyone’s happiness and well being. Being flexible is key!

Right Attitude is Important: Have an attitude of gratitude. Things have slowed down so you can take a little time to smell the roses and be grateful for all that you do have instead of focusing on what you don’t have. Being grateful also gives you a sense of peace. I feel blessed to have this quality time with my hubby and children.

Look for the Positive: Look for something positive in each day, even if somedays you have to look a little harder.

Bad Days are Ok: It’s ok to have a bad day. Take the time to recognize and make space for what you are feeling. Remember that this day is only going to last 24 hours. A bad day does not equal a bad life.

Breaks are Necessary. You may need to take a break from your spouse, your children and from social media. With all the negativity that is going on around us; taking time to pray and connect with God is crucial for our mental health and emotional well being. Breaks are necessary in order to give your mind a break and give you ample time to recharge, refocus and regroup.

Don’t Ever Take Things for Granted: Never take for granted having a night out on the town with my hubby or socializing with my friends in person again.

I Strengthened My Family Relationships: I don’t downplay how much the pandemic has hurt the world. But I have a habit of looking for the silver lining.  Being quarantined with my family has afforded us the opportunity to spend more time together; which has strengthened our bond and the mutual love and respect that we have for each other.
